Welcome to my site - and thank you for coming to my website as part of your search for a therapist!
Seeking therapy is a strength
- an awareness, understanding and acknowledgement in seeking
help and support is an important step in relationships and ability to
relate.
I offer a therapeutic counselling
service for anyone wishing to create change in their life, whether you are able
to name that change or not. This might mean undertaking short-term
counselling, or longer, open-ended therapeutic counselling.
Clients are ‘experts’ on themselves, and respect for
individual values and goals is of great importance. My role as a therapist is
to take you through the difficult process of self-understanding.
All therapists, irrespective of their orientation, believe that a good
counselling relationship is essential to an effective positive outcome to
therapy. With this in mind, I aim to create the right environment to build an
effective relationship with you. It is this relationship that makes it possible
for you to develop trust and for us to work together. It is the quality of the
therapeutic relationship contributes to a positive outcome in counselling,
which is very important to me and the work.
You will begin to feel heard, listened to and understood. He or she will not
make decisions for you or tell you what to do.
Working with a therapist enables you to explore the problem from your frame of
reference, and then to focus on specific issues. My attitude will be
non-judgemental and accepting, with an empathic understanding allowing you to
begin to feel heard. From time to time during the session I may need to
paraphrase or summarise what I have heard to clarify and gain a better
understanding from your point of view, helping you to consider possible ways to
act, devise a plan of action and how best to put this into effect.
I am able to provide a service for clients who wish to be seen privately for
reasons of confidentiality, convenience and duration. Appointments can be
offered during the day, on evenings and on Saturdays. Initial assessments
can usually be offered within 48 hours from initial contact. Clients can either
refer themselves or be referred by their GP.
I offer a non-judgmental approach, without discrimination on grounds of sex,
race, religion, class, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or gender
